Our
Vision:
A young generation free from H.I.V and AIDS

Our mission:
To
improve the reproductive health status of the youth
in Uganda through limiting the further spread of HIV/AIDS
and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and to
involve all youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS through
school- and community-based educational efforts that
focus on youth aged 10 to 24 years in school and youth
aged 18 to 30 out of school, especially in rural areas.

Since 1992, UYAAS has been a positive force for behavioural
change by directly influencing and involving the youth
in educational and developmental efforts in order to improve
the reproductive health and effect behavioural change.
The involvement of youth in HIV/AIDS education is a crucial
element in prevention and behavioural change. Uganda's
promotion of HIV/AIDS prevention and Education programs
has resulted in a remarkable HIV prevalence decrease when
compared with other countries in the world. This suggests
that efforts to reach the youth through prevention education
would greatly influence behavioural change.
In the past 14 years, UYAAS has gained vast experience
in working directly with young people on educational and
behavioural changes concerning HIV/AIDS, STDs, and adolescent
reproductive health in general. As a result, they have
realized tremendous growth in the number of youth that
they have reached through their strategies and programs.
