Capacity Building Programmes 1. Training of teachers as change agents: This project is aimed at building the capacity of Teachers in schools who are trained as Change Agents to support and supervise school based Anti-AIDS activities. They are given skills on how to organize a training in a school, Participatory Training techniques and Facilitation. Techniques that will enable them to teach HIV/AIDS in classes and provide counseling to other teachers and students; the training exposes Change Agents to HIV/AIDS, STDs education, prevention, Life Planning Skills Education, Child rights and protection. The training also exposes Teachers issues that effect Teachers living with HIV/AIDS in the education sector such as Stigma and Discrimination. more....
2. Training of trainers for the community based volunteers: The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of individual trainers to educate and design peer-education courses in ARH and HIV/AIDS, STDs prevention and to build the organization capacity at District level to support the project implementation including counseling young people and make referrals to other services providers, project monitoring and evaluation. 3. Staff Development: As the project progresses, there is need to equip the staff with skills that are vital for their work. UYAAS through it deliberate effort it has taken staff development as a very important tool giving knowledge on administration, project evaluation, and computer skills to improve data management, reporting, monitoring of project and programs. The aim is to ensure that our staffs are comfortable with the knowledge about the programs philosophy and goals and skills to enable them work effectively with target audience. Staff development strengthens the program, sustain staff morale and prevent burn out. more....
